LN Muse: Evelien Van Hamme

LN Muse: Evelien Van Hamme

Evelien Van Hamme

Actress / acting coach / eternal optimist / catmom of Barry

How are you and what are you doing in life?
Things are actually going really well for me. I’ve had a really busy couple of months, working behind the scenes on a project for Streamz. There I was doing acting coaching, which I really enjoyed. Now I’m in between jobs but on April 2 I’m starting a new production. I really enjoy doing both, acting and working behind the scenes. I find it interesting to challeng myself on multiple levels.

Most people know me from the series ‘Dertigers’. That was my first project for a mass mainstream audience. Before that, I did more guest roles and theater performances. I have my own non-profit with a fellow actress and friend. We offer workshops & introductions (an opening act to the performance) for theater houses  but that’s been on the back burner for a while. The acting industry is very up and down, so this is something we can fall back on.

How do you start your day?
These days, coffee with hazelnut milk. It’s a staple in my diet. *laughs. After that, I take the time for my skincare ritual. But my morning often depends on my day and what’s on my agenda. I don’t have a set routine because no two days are the same, but this is something I try to do. On days when I have nothing to do, I can be very lazy too *laughs. I call it ‘compensation’ for the busier times!

Where do you find inspiration?
The bigger series is where I get most of my inspiration. I like watching (a lot of) good series. I also really enjoy going to museums. I often find inspiration from things that make me happy.

Where do you unwind?
Home. I like having my nest and my safe place. I can enjoy the sea and nature but I really unwind here. Here I can decide how much to take on or who I let in. It's a kind of security for me.

When/where do you wear your LN piece?
I am very careful with my LN pieces! I put on my favorite piece to go to an event, the pieces give me instant comfort and tenderness. I actually always put them on for special occasions because I know how much time and love goes into making them, and I want to treat them with equal love.

Do you have a life motto?
The best is yet to come. I've been saying that since I was 40 I'm really convinced of it. I hav a very positive outlook about life and I’m convinced that everything always works out! I've definitely learned that with age. You shouldn't push yourself or compare yourself to others, everything always works out and you will find your way.

What do you want to do in 10 years?

I am a short-term planner but on a personal level, I would love to have a partner to share everything with, someone to come home to. Professionally, I would like to create my own theater production. I would like to be more entrepreneurial in life within 10 years. I take a lot of time for things and I like to take that time. I don’t see that as a bad trait, if I go too fast then I get blocked and I want to take time to do things well. I would also like to have some bigger television assignments under my belt. We always work on very short notice and it’s a gig-based business so I find it quite a difficult question to answer. For example, my September schedule is wide open still. We’ll see what comes my way!
